The total cultivable land area of Nepal is 3.091 million hectares. According to the National Agricultural Census 2068, the average size of agricultural land in Nepal is 0.68 hectares and the average size per plot is 0.21 hectares. The traditional subsistence farming system has been adopted on fragmented land and the government efforts for agricultural development have not been integrated due to limited resources and means and have not been able to be productive. The failure to establish agriculture as a profitable business has not attracted the private sector for investment and young entrepreneurs for employment in this sector. The inability to ensure the availability of quality agricultural production materials , the failure to adopt mechanization in agricultural production, and the lack of irrigation , agricultural roads , rural electrification , and coordination with agricultural industries necessary for agricultural development and the failure to produce market-oriented products have led to agriculture being adopted only as a tradition rather than as a business.Keeping this background in mind, the modernization of the agricultural sector has been envisioned through the activities of the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project, such as the provision of necessary technology and production inputs for the production of agricultural produce , mechanization of crop/commodity production , and provision of necessary infrastructure...
